The Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries is launching a new version of the Digitarq platform for its users on 7 April. Based on powerful and flexible 100% web technology, this new version offers a more robust system with improved interoperability, user-friendliness and performance. Among the new features is the use of artificial intelligence for data processing and searches. The new Digitarq makes it possible to search information from the entire DGLAB network, including 15 district archives, the National Archive of Torre do Tombo (ANTT), the Overseas Historical Archive (AHU) and the Portuguese Photographic Centre (CPF), in an aggregated way, as well as intuitive visual navigation through thumbnails of digital representations of documents, including images, audio recordings, videos and other types of documents in PDF format. As for the information available, the new Digitarq has a new enriched information architecture based on the international standard ISO 27 127: 2023 (CIDOC-CRM), and it is now possible to consult records of actors, events or related places. The result of two years of development, the new version of Digitarq is an innovative and pioneering project. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the DGLAB network archives at contacts Given the major changes to the service components, we ask for your understanding for any instability you may experience during the first days of operation of the new platform.
